Eating for Joint Health: The Basics

No single food fixes joint pain, but consistent eating patterns can meaningfully affect the inflammation your joints deal with day to day.

The basics that actually matter

  • Omega-3s — fatty fish (salmon, sardines), walnuts, and flaxseed have real anti-inflammatory research behind them.
  • Limit ultra-processed food — not out of guilt, but because diets high in processed food are consistently linked to higher inflammatory markers.
  • Bodyweight matters more than any supplement — every pound of bodyweight translates to multiple pounds of load on your knees when walking. Modest, sustainable weight loss is one of the most effective joint interventions there is, if it’s relevant to you.
  • Vitamin D and calcium — matter for bone health specifically, especially as we age. Worth discussing with a doctor if you’re not sure where you stand.

What we’re not going to tell you

We’re not going to sell you a “joint supplement stack.” Whole food patterns and consistent movement do more for most people than anything in a bottle — see our Programs for the movement side of that equation.
