Standing Row

Most day-to-day pain and posture problems come from a weak upper back. The standing row directly targets it, and it counterbalances all the pressing (push-up) work in the plan.

How to do it

  1. Anchor a resistance band at chest height (or hold two filled water bottles/cans with arms extended in front of you).
  2. Pull your elbows straight back, squeezing your shoulder blades together, keeping elbows close to your body.
  3. Pause briefly, then return to start with control.
  4. Keep your torso still — the movement comes from your arms and shoulder blades, not from leaning back.

If you don’t have a band

Two cans or water bottles work fine for the pulling motion, or loop a towel around a sturdy railing.

If it feels too easy

Use a heavier band, more resistance, or slow the return phase to a 3-count.
